Our President - What a class act!

Well, if you had not yet heard, the Prime Minister of the UK visited the United States recently. His first official visit since "his highness", Barack Hussein Obama took control. Now, make no mistake, both of these men are Socialists but at least Mr. Brown has class. It is tradition that first official visits between leaders of nations, that they exchange gifts. These are usually well thought out and have an additional meaning, much like the gifts that PM Mr. Brown presented Mr Obama. Our leader, on the other hand, gave Mr. Brown a 25 pack of DVD's. What a class act we have elected America. God Help us, because WE obviously aren't capable of helping ourselves.

Aftermath from Hurricane Ike

So this photo was taken the morning of the 13th of September, after Hurricane Ike came through. As you can see, we had some flooding. That is actually my propane tank in my neighbors front yard, after all was said and done, the tank came to rest in their back yard. We really got lucky, all things considered. The SUV in the photo, along with two Harley's were totalled as a result of the flood, which was actually salt water from the storm surge from Ike. I also lost my job after the hurricane, because I didn't go in to work during the county manditory evacuation. But, God takes care of me. I now have a better paying job, and a new Dodge truck that's paid in full. So, all in all things work out pretty good.

The Latest

Ok, so it's been some time since my last post. So much time in fact that I actually doubt anyone will read this any time soon. So anyway, here goes. I ride my Harley to work everyday, as gas is too expensive to drive my trucks for anything other then a grocery run. A buddy of mine is rebuilding the engine in my Jimmy, as it developed quite a knock. As for the Harley, I have about 4000 miles on it so far. The longest trip I have taken so far has been to Austin, TX. About 515 miles round trip.

As for work, I was the second of two drivers when I was hired. But after my awesome performance, they let the other guy go. And now I am a solo driver at an office that should have three. Damn I am good!!!! LOL!!!

In election news, I was pleasantly surprised to find Fred Thompson's name still on the Texas ballot. So I cast my protest vote for him. I just could not bring myself to vote for McCain. He is a liberal no matter what he says.

Well I guess that is about it for me. Type to you later.

After the hurricane

Since the hurricane ripped through Southeast Texas on Thursday, I have been out of power. I borrowed a generator from a friend, so I have limited power for now. At least the fridge is cold, and I have fans to circulate the hot air. Actually, all in all, it could be much worse. I didn't have any damage to anything. That's about it for now. Got to run.

Labor Day Mud Run

Well, I finally got to take my truck out in the mud and play. I even entered it in a mud bog race, and took second. What a blast that was. This all happened on Labor Day at the Texas Hogwallow event in Deweyville, Texas. Once that place is fully operational it will be a great place to go wheeling, so if you're in southeast Texas or southwest Louisiana, check it out. You can Google their name for more information.
I also started my new job two weeks ago. The pay is obvisely no where near what I was making in Iraq, but it is good for the area I live. I am back to driving trucks again, but this time I am only local, so I am home every night. About the same time that I started my job I found a place to live. I am still unpacking though, and anyone who has moved knows that it is a long process.
I guess that's about it for now. Take care and type to you all later.

Daytona!!!

Well, here I am driving the #83 Red Bull Toyota at 160 MPH. This photo was taken on the 27th of July, 2007. What a ride! Nothing like blasting around Daytona Superspeedway in a stock car. My son also got to do a ride-along, they take the ride-alongs up to 165 MPH. We had a blast.

Right now I am visiting family in Virginia, but I will be heading to Indiana tomorrow to visit even more family. My newest truck is driving great, I did give it a tune up today though as I found a bad plug wire. And it runs even better now.

I had ordered a 2008 Harley Davidson Nightster through AAFES, but once I got home I stopped by the Harley dealer to see one in person. I told the salesmen that I had ordered one, and he said he do a better deal for me. So when all was said and done, I cancelled my order with AAFES and bought it from them. Plus I got the exact color I wanted, and for cheaper then I would have got from AAFES. It is at the dealer right now waiting on me to return from my trip and pick it up. I also am getting the forward controls and mini ape hanger bar installed. I can't wait.

I am back home in Texas!

Well, I am home in Texas after being in Iraq for 44 straight months. I departed Mosul on the morning of the 12th of July. I had about a 6 hour layover in Baghdad, then flew to Dubai, U.A.E., where I had about a 4 hour layover. My flight from Dubai was a direct flight to Atlanta that lasted a little over 15 hours. Then it took so long to get through customs, I missed my connecting flight. So after a 5 hour layover in Atlanta, I was back on my way to Texas. I arrived in Houston a little after noon. All in all, it took around 37 hours to travel from Mosul to Houston. When I got here, I was tired, dirty and in need of a good meal, but damn it's nice to be home.

And now that I'm back, I look forward to taking Doug out on a trip to visit all his grandparents. We will also stop in Daytona Beach, Florida; where I will drive a stock car around the Daytona Superspeedway for 24 laps. We also have plans to go out to the range and fire off a few hundred rounds of ammo. I plan on firing off the 50 a few times as well. :)

I am looking forward to getting my hands on the GMC Jimmy I bought, to find out what all it needs to get it ready for it's cross country trip Doug and I will be taking soon. I am told it needs to have some front end work and exhaust work.

I guess that's about it for now. Too all my friends still serving in Iraq, my prayers are with you to come home safely. Take care.

2008 H-D Sportster 1200N Nightster

Ok, this will be the last of the toys I buy for some time. I ordered a 2008 Harley Davidson Nightster FX 1200N through the military purchase program and saved a bunch of money. I got an email today from them telling me the earliest they can deliver it will be in October, so I will have to put up with high gas prices till then. Not that I buy a lot of gas over here in Iraq, but when I do return home I will not have to wait too long till I get it. I already have a few plans to customize it. Come on now, y'all know I can't have a vehicle and do something to it. I will be installing forward controls on it, and I think a Vance & Hines exhaust at the minimum.

My Newest Truck Purchase!

This is my 1986 GMC Jimmy K1500. As you can see, it's in really good shape, the pictures of the interior are in equally as good condition as the exterior. It was just recently restored, and the front clip was updated to an 1991 front clip. I plan to keep this one in stock condition, as I already have one truck that is huge. Anyway, thought I would share this with you all.

Also, in work related news, I was recently promoted. And the bump in pay is quite nice if I do say so myself.

A while back I did the Richard Petty Driving Experience while my family and I were visiting Disney world. I had so much fun that I decided to do it again, but this time I will be driving at the Mecca of the stock car racing world. Daytona Superspeedway. That's right I will be driving a stock car around the track at speeds up to 165 MPH, which I am told is as fast as they will let you go.

Got to run for now, see you all soon.
